October TBR – Too many readathons: #Victober #Spookathon #OWNtober

Just spent some thinking about the books I would like to read in October. I did not want to have too massive a TBR, so I can mood read and even use my new TBR bag!

The not-so-big TBR is not helped by the fact that there are a few readathons in October that all interest me and though I seldomly fully engage in readathons I do like to use them to help inspire my TBR! I like to genre-hop, so prefer it that way!

So, what’s going on in October? Well…

1. Victober – read books from the Victorian era (1837-1901) (hosted by Beyondthepages, Books and Things, Kate Howe and Lucythereader on YouTube)

2. Spookathon – this is a week-long Readathon, but I am spreading it out over October (hosted by Booksandlala, Peter Likes Books and Bookerly on YouTube – all channels I absolutely love!).

3. OWNtober – read physical books on your TBR (hosted by Kathy from Books and Munches)

I have a couple of e-books I want to read and there’s a buddy read or two.

I will be combining some stuff, so let’s a have a look:

1. Anne of Cleves (Sarah-Beth Watkins) – Publication date: 26 October (NetGalley)

2. Bird Box (Josh Malerman) – Spookathon

Physical books:

3. The Woman in White (Wilkie Collins) – Victober & Spookathon & OWNtober

4. The Return of the King (J R R Tolkien) – buddy read & OWNtober

5. Wives and Daughters (Elizabeth Gaskell) – Victober & OWNtober

6. Empress Wu: Rise (Peachill) – OWNtober

7. Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban (J K Rowling) – buddy read & OWNtober (& Spookathon? because dementors are scary and prisoner is a spooky word?!)

8. Misery (Stephen King) – Spookathon & OWNtober

So that is only 8 books on my TBR for October, which hopefully will leave me time to mood read! And bring out that TBR bag!

    1. Good! That sounds great πŸ™‚ Looking forward to reading that one! I hope I will like it and that it won’t give me nightmares (I am pretty susceptible to those) EEK!

  1. I love this list. First of all, I’m lowkey obsessed with the Tudor era and now need to get my hands on that book about Anne of cleves. She always gets the short end of the stick and has the reputation as the “ugly” wife.

I read The Woman in White back in university for my gothic literature module. I remember absolutely loving it though I can barely remember anything about the actual story now because it’s been so long.

I really do want to read Wives and Daughters one day. I’ve only read one book by Gaskell – North and South – and that was also years ago but I remember loving that too. Want to reread it and read more of her work one day.

Misery! Yes! One of the best Stephen King books ever. Love love love. πŸ˜€

You’re going to have such a great October.

    1. I hope so! I am really looking forward to reading that book about Anne of Cleves – I know so little about her.

And yes, I am so looking forward too all my October reads πŸ™‚ Glad to hear you liked some of those books!
