WWW Wednesdays: 3 October 2018

Man, the weeks fly by! September has been and gone and we have stormed headlong into October.

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.

What am I currently reading?

I have been  reading one book at a time for a while now. I find it more relaxing that way. I used to always have two or three books on the go, but actually this is working for me right now. The book I am reading at the moment is Empress Wu: Rise by the collaborative writers’ collective Peachill. The novel is set in China and is the fictionalised account of the life of Empress Wu, who was born in 624. I have to say, I am really enjoying this novel. It’s very unembellished and straightforward, which makes it a vey easy read. I hope to finish it today.

What did I recently finish reading?

I finished Frankenstein by Mary Shelley on Monday. I am glad I finally read that one, but was not blown away by it. I also finished The Angel in the Glass by Alys Clare over the weekend. That was a good read, but again I did not quite love it.

What do I think I will read next?

I think I will read The Return of the King, the last book in The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien, next. After that, depending on my mood, I might read one of the Victober books. Probably Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell.

    1. I haven’t heard of that one, but it does sound perfect for October! I hope I will like Wives and Daughters. I have heard good things!

  1. I should really go back to reading one book at a time, but I always have a different book going on all my devices and a physical book as well. I don’t really know if that helps me read more or not. I’m so glad that you just read “Frankenstein”, because I have a book club meeting on that next month, and while I remember most of it, I’m gonna use your review as a refresher. Here is my WWW post if interested:

    1. Haha, my reviews are nothing to write home about, but I am glad it helps you 🙂 They are nowhere as detailed as most other book bloggers’ reviews!
