I haven’t had the best week! I fell off our pony on Tuesday and cracked a rib. I thought I would climb on her and walk her around for a bit, but her foal had other plans. He jumped on her hind-end and she spooked something spectacular! She shot forward and I bit the dust. Crack! Oops! OUCH!
I have had friends help me with the ponies since, but I still ended up doing too much and feeling in even more pain yesterday. So this weekend I am doing nothing at all. My husband (who is not at all horsey) is looking after the ponies with my daughter’s help and a bit of my supervision.
I have been reading today, but not as much as I expected. I read about 70 pages of The Path of Daggers (The Wheel of Time #8) by Robert Jordan today. I remember this book as being one of the less interesting ones in the series, but I am actually enjoying it quite a bit. I am only 100 pages in, but still….
I also started Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand this afternoon for Non-Fiction November. Both of those are re-reads. I love Laura Hillenbrand’s writing. I love how this is not just a story about a horse, but about a time period in America. It paints such a vivid picture. The characters are so fascinating. The story IS fascinating! Even if you have no interest in horses or racing, this book tells an amazing story.
Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend!
