SO, WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON?
It has been a sparse week for reading as well as blogging.
I have been a bit distracted trying to find a new home for my ten-month old foal, whilst getting my head around the fact that soon Freda is having another one in a couple of months. We are also trying to find a shetland pony to keep her company instead. So it’s been quite an equine worry week. Worrying is not good for reading in my case.
But I have been reading, if not an enormous amount. I am about 60% into The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I am enjoying it, but I am not loving it as much as I expected. I have heard so many people rave about this book, and yeah, it’s fun, but is it really THAT good? The interactions between the main characters, Lucy and Josh, are just a bit too non-sensical sometimes. It made me roll my eyes a bit on a few occasions. But the book IS a good time, so I am not complaining.
The other book I have started reading is Centaur by Declan Murphy and Ami Rao. It is Declan Murphy’s story about his career as a jockey and the accident that almost killed him. He fractured his skull in a dozen places, but survived to tell the tale. Ami Rao is the actual writer, but she has written it from Declan’s perspective. So basically she is a ghost writer, but named! I am liking it quite a bit. Declan comes across quite cocky, but I kind of like that. There is no false modesty here!
Two very different books and I am enjoying both.
I expect to finish The Hating Game tomorrow. I think I will be reading either The Dream Thieves (Maggie Stiefvater) or Siege and Storm (Leigh Bardugo) next. I quite fancy a bit of YA fantasy! I do plan to read both of those this month to make my way through the series I am reading. I am not starting any new series until I have actually finished some!
The coming week we have a visit to a local shetland pony breeder planned. We hope to find one my daughter can ride and that also can go in front of a sulky. That would be a fun thing to do.
Apart from that I don’t have a ton planned, so hopefully if I stop worrying, I will get some reading done!
Happy Sunday! xx
