On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?

A sex tape. A pregnancy scare. Two cheating scandals. And that’s just this week’s update.

I chose to read this one quite randomly. I had had it on my Kindle for a while. I was a little apprehensive ahead of time, because, you know, YA… I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Maybe I have been being too prejudiced against YA lately.
I liked the characters. They were a bit cookie cutter, but it really worked in a story like this and I really did not mind. I did not want the characters to be overly complex, and for me, in this kind of plot, they just worked.
Was it the most original story? No, but I did not need to be. I kind of felt the resolution was not that surprising and I had wished it had been a bit more exciting, but what can I say? I enjoyed the read quite a bit and it was kind of just what I needed.
