Music Monday: ‘My Honest Face’ by Inhaler

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

You know when you hear a song and you think, well that sounds a bit like… whatever. Well, I heard this song and thought it sounded a bit like early U2 and that the guy’s voice sounded like Bono. Well guess what, turns out the singer is Bono’s son. I think that is pretty amusing 🙂 The more I hear this song, the more I love it. It makes me want to do silly dancing (the best kind of dancing!).

I am really enjoying a lot of new bands at the moment, which gives me life 🙂

Music Monday: ‘Mother’ by The Amazons

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

It’s been a while since I did one of these. I have also been pretty absent from my blog recently. I have not been reading that much lately, partly because I have been listening to a lot of music instead, as that is my second obsession behind reading.

I have been to a couple of gigs in the last month and I was completely blown away by one of the bands I saw live. I liked them beforehand, but seeing them live was such a high that I now absolutely love these guys. The venue had a capacity of only about 250 and it was the sweatiest, hottest gig I have ever been to. They were freaking amazing!

That band was The Amazons, who I posted a song by a few months ago. They completely and utterly blew me away and that was one of the best gigs I have been to in my 25 years of gig-going (and that is saying something!). I was buzzing for days after – seriously!

So here’s a live version of one of the songs from their second album Future Dust, which came out in May this year. Epic live band. I can’t wait to see them again in the future (unfortunately probably not in such a small venue again *Sad face*).

I chose this live version of Mother, but it really does not do them justice. Honestly, if they ever play near you, go see them – you won’t regret it!

Music Monday: American Boy (Estelle feat. Kanye West)

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

A bit of a different song choice for me late this Monday evening, but it is one I love so so much when I am in a lighter mood. It is one of those tunes thats simply makes me happy and makes me wanna do a little jig. I love the song, the video is great, it’s all good. How classy does Estelle look!

Can’t believe I actually put a song up with Kanye West in it… but I simply love this one.

Anyway, enjoy!

Music Monday: The Undead (The Big Moon)

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

This Monday I decided to go to this tune by The Big Moon. The Big Moon are getting ready to release their second album, but this is a tune from their first album Love in the 4th Dimension, which I absolutely adore! This is my favourite tune from that album at the moment (it changes). It was not a single, so there is no video.

I think Juliette Jackson has an incredibly sexy voice. Strange enough, I said something about sexy voices in relation to Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys in my last Music Monday post. Maybe they should duet? How good would that be!

Music Monday: Arabella (Arctic Monkeys)

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

I was playing AM in the car the other day and I literally played this song over and over again. I love the contrast between the hip hop beat and the heavy guitar riff that eventually kicks in. Everything about this song is sexy, from the drums, the bass to the guitars and Alex Turner’s vocal. I may not like Alex Turner himself that much, but man, he has the most effortless sexy voice. I just don’t need to see him. Ha!

I remember when I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor came out so well. It had so much energy, I loved it. I have liked Arctic Monkeys ever since, but they have never been a favourite band. But the songs from AM started dropping and as an album, AM is a masterpiece in my humble opinion. It’s one sexy motherf**ker of an album.

Arabella’s got some interstellar-gator skin boots
And a helter skelter ’round her little finger and I ride it endlessly
She’s got a Barbarella silver swimsuit
And when she needs to shelter from reality she takes a dip in my daydreams
My days end best when this sunset gets itself
Behind that little lady sitting on the passenger side
It’s much less picturesque without her catching the light
The horizon tries but it’s just not as kind on the eyes
As Arabella
As Arabella
Just might have tapped into your mind and soul
You can’t be sure
Arabella’s got a seventies head
But she’s a modern lover
It’s an exploration, she’s made of outer space
And her lips are like the galaxy’s edge
And her kiss the colour of a constellation falling into place
My days end best when this sunset gets itself
Behind that little lady sitting on the passenger side
It’s much less picturesque without her catching the light
The horizon tries but it’s just not as kind on the eyes
As Arabella
As Arabella
Just might have tapped into your mind and soul
You can’t be sure
That’s magic in a cheetah print coat
Just a slip underneath it I hope
Asking if I can have one of those
Organic cigarettes that she smokes
Wraps her lips round the Mexican coke
Makes you wish that you were the bottle
Takes a sip of your soul and it sounds like…
Just might have tapped into your mind and soul
You can’t be sure

Music Monday: Doubt It (The Amazons)

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

So I am a bit obsessed with this new song by The Amazons. It’s a sort of 1980 hair rock vibe and it’s pretty melodic, which is what I love.  It’s a great one to shout along to.  I am seeing these guys in October in a tiny venue near me and I have a feeling they are going to blow me away! I can’t wait!

Did I make a mistake
When I told you my name?
I might never escape
Wanna do it again?
It’s the devil’s desire (oh, yeah)
I don’t wanna be saved (it’s that time)
Push me over the edge (push me)
Take my doubts to the grave (to the grave)
If you need it, don’t you doubt it
Won’t need to worry about it
If you feel it, don’t you doubt it
Only feel lonely without it
Pull me out of the swamp (pull me)
Drag me out of the mire (drag me now)
Coax me out of the depths (coax me)
My twisted pit of desire (pulling down)
If you need it, don’t you doubt it
Won’t need to worry about it
If you feel it, don’t you doubt it
Only feel lonely without it
(What will you do?) It’s so right
(What will you feel?) Come down hard
(Don’t want to hear) ‘Cause it’s so right, it’s so right, it’s so right
If you need it, don’t you doubt it
Won’t need to worry about it
If you feel it, don’t you doubt it
Only feel lonely without it
(What will you do?) It’s so right
(What will you feel?) Come down hard
(Don’t want to hear) It’s so right, it’s so right, it’s so right, right, right
(What will you do?)
(What will you feel?)
(Don’t want to hear)
Pull me out of the swamp
Drag me out of the mire
Coax me out of the depths
My twisted pit of desire

Music Monday: Street Spirit (Radiohead)

Music Monday is hosted by Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek.

MusicMonday

Now, I don’t like Radiohead. Shock! Horror! I think they are pretentious as f**k (excuse the swearing, but much needed). The band is, their fans are, I just don’t like any of it. But… I have always loved this particualr song. It does something to my heart, like all the best music does. It’s the rhythm, gentle but urgent, and the momentum that slowly builds underneath.

Do you have songs you love by bands or artists you really don’t like?
